3 Ways to Pull Yourself Up this Week
This post serves as a pleasant reminder to myself: to do things for myself that I should do, before I need to do them. My mood hasn’t been the best lately. We all have our struggles, whether they be little or big. But, I’m not going to let the mood stick. Today, and everyday, I must choose JOY! My mother always says, “Go there, but don’t stay there.” It’s about time I take her advice and climb out of the rut I’ve been feeling. So today I’m sharing my The Golden 3: 3 Ways to Pull Yourself Up and maybe they’ll come to help you too.
A Delicious Dinner
Nothing compares to a good meal at the end of a rough day. Typically, I like to try a new restaurant. This week, I plan to try cooking a new recipe.
Private Dance Party
It may sound a little crazy. But it’s really not. Follow these 5 simple steps to DANCE IT OUT!
- Head to the living room.
- Turn it up on your favorite jams.
- Grab your microphone (or spatula).
- Let the music hit your soul.
- DANCE IT OUT!!
Finding a moment of peace is one of my best ways to pull myself out of a rut. During this time I like to reflect by writing in my journal, completing a Bible plan, reading a book, or simply laying in silence to the sound of a meditation series.
Overall, today is already looking up for me. And if you’ve found yourself to stumble across this post because you needed some ideas to help you get out of your rut, hopefully you’d give these a try.

3 Motivational Reminders from 5th Grade
Although May is my favorite Month of the year, it is also state testing month for us teachers and students out there. After 5th Grade Boot Camp, a time when we crash course the kiddos with everything they learned from the year, they were definitely feeling the overload. I didn’t want them to feel discouraged, so I decided to think of something else I could equip them with. Something better.
I wanted to motivate my students to not only do their best, but to believe in their best. Even adults have tests, though they do come in a different form. We ourselves can sometimes become overwhelmed. So I send you off with this Monday’s Golden 3, three quotes to provide motivation for whatever mountain you have to climb this week. Sometimes simple reminders can go a long way.

I often hear from fellow friends, family, and new acquaintances, “I wish I was out there livin’ like you” or “I used to do those things but, it’s too late for me now.” To both of these I respond, “LIVE AND LIVE SOME MORE.”
Honestly, I was in the same place before. There I was thinking that I couldn’t do these things that I love (traveling, home decor, etc.) until I graduated. Then came the excuse, “I’m not independently where I should be for me to have enough for that.” It was not until a tough moment in my 20-somethings that I realized, I have to live and live now. I started by making intentional trips to Atlanta after work and on weekends. This led to me exploring what I call, my own backyard, finding new neighborhoods and the things they offered. Later, a friend and I decided to do a 5k race that turned into a dance party for 20 bucks, and after that my aunt and uncle bought me a passport and took me on my first international trip, Aruba. The Game Changed!
Everybody’s way of livin’ isn’t yours. Find what motivates and inspires you. Find what fits and rock it in every way. Do something you love and build on it. Besides, the only truth we must prove is the truth of being ourselves.
